Another beloved restaurant is closing up shop due to pressure placed on small businesses in an increasingly difficult economic climate.

The Collective Wine Bar & Kitchen announced in an Instagram post on Thursday, July 13th that they will be closing their doors for good following one last weekend of service.

They became a mainstay of not only Cook Street, but Victoria’s wine and culinary culture over their five years of business.

“While this news may be difficult, please know that this decision was not made lightly,” read Collective’s closure announcement.

“The challenges to small local businesses brought on by recent circumstances have proven insurmountable, and sadly, we must bid farewell to this chapter of our lives.”

The Collective vehemently thanked their customer base and all the staff who have worked there throughout the years in their heartfelt farewell.

They emphasize the importance of all the moments they were able to take part in and share with their guests and the community.

The Collective noted that their customers should follow them on social media for updates and future endeavors taken on by the restaurateurs.

“Times are very tough for small businesses. Please continue to support local businesses, as they are the lifeblood of our communities,” they wrote.

“Once again, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for being a part of our restaurant’s journey. It has been an honor and a privilege to serve you all. We will cherish the memories and keep the spirit of The Collective alive.”

Since they posted the news that they are closing, there has been an outpouring of support and sorrow in the comments section wishing the staff the best of luck and recalling good times spent at The Collective.
