Two Campbell River RCMP officers injured during arrest of attempted murder suspect

Two Campbell River RCMP officers were injured and one person has been arrested following a serious incident on Friday.

Police confirmed they are investigating an attempted murder that occurred on July 28th, at a residence located in the 900 block of Cedar Street.

According to reports, a 21-year-old man was stabbed multiple times by a 22-year-old assailant known to him.

The incident, which took place at approximately 7 p.m., resulted in an altercation when the suspect resisted police attempts to take him into custody.

During the confrontation, two officers were injured and were subsequently transported to Campbell River hospital. Fortunately, the injuries sustained by the officers are reported to be non-life-threatening.

Both the victim and the suspect were immediately transported to hospital for medical attention. While the victim’s condition is expected to improve, the suspect is currently receiving treatment for his injuries.

Investigators have disclosed that drugs are believed to have played a role in the events leading up to the incident. However, the police have reassured the public that they do not perceive any imminent danger to the general public at this time.
