A 37-year-old man, who had barricaded himself in a condo complex while threatening to harm police officers, was apprehended after a standoff with the RCMP on Wednesday.
The standoff, which lasted several hours, began after Campbell River RCMP received multiple calls about a man causing a disturbance at a condo building in the 2000-block of the Island Highway throughout the day.
On the afternoon of August 9th, Campbell River RCMP said officers attempted to establish communication with the suspect, but were met with resistance.
The situation escalated when the individual allegedly claimed to be armed and expressed a desire to harm law enforcement officers.
As tensions mounted, the suspect barricaded himself within the premises prompting the Vancouver Island Emergency Response Team to be called in to assist.

Video footage of the arrest showed the suspect jumping from a second-floor window, with a white gas billowing from the unit. Officers can then be seen moving in to take the individual into custody.
The 37-year-old suspect is currently in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on August 10th.
