There’s a free cello performance happening in downtown Victoria next week

Share

Victoria residents, you’re invited to a free, pedal-powered performance happening downtown on Tuesday, August 22nd!

Music on the Green is happening at Pandora Green — a small public park along Pandora Avenue, just west of Cook Street.

Last year, The Victoria Downtown Residents Association transformed this underused greenspace into an open-air performance venue and by popular demand, they’ve decided to bring it back.

So, for the second summer in a row, Music on the Green will introduce you to a talented musician and all you have to do is show up!

Featured will be headliner, Brian Yoon, who plays in the Victoria Symphony as Principal Cellist. He will be performing music for solo cello by Bach, Edmund Finnis, Svante Henryson, Cassadó and Kodály.

To kick off the performance, a Lekwungen Welcome by TEALIYE/Brianna Bear from Songhees Nation will commence and will also include performances by singer-songwriter Hoélune Rosé and slam poet Jezreel.

All of these special performances will be amplified by a bicycle-powered sound system and audience members can all take turns riding a stationary generator bike throughout the concert — a free musical performance and a free workout!

Grab a blanket or a lawn chair, invite your friends, and bring along a picnic!
