As the summer season reaches its peak, residents of Victoria, are advised to brace themselves for an impending heatwave that promises to bring scorching temperatures to the region.

With forecasts indicating a significant rise in mercury levels, locals and visitors alike are encouraged to take necessary precautions to stay cool and comfortable.

The heatwave is scheduled to descend on the region starting from Sunday, extending well into the workweek.

According to meteorologists, temperatures are anticipated to rise from the low 20s to potentially reach the mid-30s in inland regions of the Capital Regional District (CRD).

Similarly high temperatures are expected further up the Island.

While this heatwave is anticipated to last for a significant portion of the coming week, authorities are assuring the public that it won’t replicate the deadly heat dome experienced in 2021.

The province has issued a warning for residents to prepare for sweltering conditions, emphasizing the importance of staying informed and vigilant.

Emergency Management Minister Bowinn Ma has noted that despite the expected heat, this event is not projected to escalate to the level of the previous year’s tragic heatwave.

Victoria’s weather forecast by Environment Canada suggests sun-filled skies through Wednesday.

While every weather network is predicting slightly different temperatures, here’s what the Weather Network says to expect:

(Weather Network)

The temperatures are set to soar, with Sunday’s thermometer expected to reach 29°C, followed by 30°C on Tuesday and Wednesday.

These figures are notably higher than the average high of 22°C for this time of year. The warmth is attributed to a warm airmass that will bring temperatures 5 to 8 degrees above the seasonal norms.

Stay cool and don’t forget the sunscreen!
