Another year of the Saanich Fair has come to an end.

The Saanich Fair, a cherished long weekend tradition for many, celebrated its 155th annual edition this year, drawing crowds of approximately 20,000 eager visitors on its opening day, Saturday.

While the exact numbers are still being tallied, one thing is certain: this event is a beloved cornerstone of Vancouver Island’s cultural calendar.

As the oldest and largest agricultural fair of its kind on the island, the Saanich Fair brings together communities, showcasing the region’s rich agricultural heritage and offering a delightful blend of entertainment.

Musical performances were in the spotlight this year, perfectly complementing designated genre days. Saturday, known as Country Day, featured the charismatic and award-nominated country star Aaron Pritchett. On Sunday, Rock Day, PRISM, the “Spaceship Superstar,” took the stage, boasting multi-platinum albums and two Juno Awards.

Despite a touch of rain on Sunday, the fairgrounds remained bustling with revelers determined to have a good time. Saturday’s sunny skies had witnessed long lines forming at nearly every midway ride, food vendor, and entrance, painting a picture of unbridled excitement.

The Saanich Fair continues to preserve its classic charm, offering a large midway area brimming with rides and games, alongside farm fair staples like animal competitions, shows, and antique farm equipment demonstrations.

In the heart of it all, visitors enjoyed a wide array of delectable food options, vendors showcasing their wares, and a bustling farmers market.

As we capture the essence of this long-standing tradition in photos, join us in reliving the magic of the 155th annual Saanich Fair.
