A death on Pandora Avenue nearly two weeks ago has officially been deemed a homicide.

At around 3:45 a.m. Thursday September 14th, police responded to a call from paramedics for a man who was in medical distress in the 1000-block of Pandora Avenue.

The man was transported to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. At the time, VicPD ruled the death as suspicious and suspected foul play.

twelve days later, police are confirming the death on Pandora Avenue was a homicide. Several posts online identified the victim as being Michael “Mikey” Henning, a well known  member of the houseless community.

While unconfirmed, sources tell Victoria Buzz a person was shot to death. Photos from the scene at the time showed several tents in a grassy area blocked off by police tape.

Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit investigators have determined the death was a homicide, but say the risk to the public is low.

Anyone with information is asked to call the VIIMCU information line at (250) 380-6211.
