Multiple Vancouver Island police detachments involved in stolen boat and trailer recovery

Share

Nearly two months after a boat and trailer were reported stolen on Vancouver Island, police have stated that a multi-jurisdiction investigation led to their recovery.

According to a media release, Nootka Sound RCMP received a report of a stolen boat and trailer which were stored in the 500-block of Industrial Park Place in Gold River on June 27th.

No suspects were identified at the time and the case went cold for a few weeks.

It wasn’t until August 22nd that the police uncovered new information about the possible location of the stolen boat and trailer and they secured a search warrant at a property in the 7000-block of Osborne Bay Road in Duncan.

On August 23rd, West Shore RCMP assisted the North Cowichan RCMP in executing the search warrant—eventually recovering the stolen property and returning it to its owner.

“The prompt sharing of information between RCMP investigators from different detachments and re-allocation of police resources played a key role in the evolution of this investigation,” states Corporal Alex Bérubé, spokesperson for the RCMP in British Columbia.

The investigation will continue under the West Shore RCMP.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact police at 250-474-2264.
