Pacific FC secure Canadian playoff spot as Premier League’s second best

Share

The Pacific FC (PFC) Tridents have secured themselves a spot in the Canadian Premier League (CPL) playoffs this year with just a couple weeks left in the regular season.

They have even secured a spot in the top five teams across the entire CPL and are currently in second overall.

Until Saturday, October 7th, PFC will continue to strive for an even better top spot in their regular season while they prepare to take on the other top teams in the CPL for the playoffs.

One helpful addition to the team will be their newly re-signed fullback, Georges Mukumbilwa, who will help them on their quest to be crowned champions.

“Georges is incredibly humble in his work, he’s a consistent and versatile player,” said James Merriman, Head Coach of Pacific FC.

“He has great potential and is still developing, with his best football yet to come. I believe he’s one of the most underrated fullbacks in the CPL.”

The young, 23-year-old player joined Pacific last season after cutting his teeth while playing soccer in the Vancouver Whitecaps academy.

Mukumbilwa then signed his first contract and made his debut with Vancouver FC in 2019.

He is known for his speed and grit on the turf. Pacific FC says he will be a crucial part of the Trident’s backline as they enter playoff mode.

According to Merriman, the personality he brings to the Tridents organization and in the locker room is his most important characteristic as a teammate.

Pacific FC’s next and last match on home turf is coming up on Saturday, September 30th against Vancouver FC.

The Tridents will recognize National Day for Truth and Reconciliation during this game with Indigenous groups from the Westshore region coming out to provide context regarding their history with the Indian Residential Schooling system

A moment of silence and a ceremony will be held for those who lost their lives unjustly at the residential schools on Vancouver Island and across the country.
