If you love photography and animals, you could be the next competition winner!

Out of the thousands of photos the International Pet Photographer of the Year competition receives every year, local Pauliina Saarinen from Duncan was placed within the top 100 pet photographers!

Her photo features Victoria’s beloved Fan Tan Alley in Chinatown and a beautiful auburn dog named Frisky standing in the middle of it.

Every year, pet lovers, talented photographers, and lucky capturers flock to the competition run by Charlotte Reeves and Craig Turner-Bullock in hopes of having their beloved photos featured!

The Pet Photography competition has five different categories to submit to, including Action, Creative, Documentary, Pets and People, and Portraits.

There are also winners for specific awards outside of the categories such as Emerging Pet Photographer, Members Choice, and Judges Choice—where each judge picks their personal favourite.

Finalists and a winner are picked for each category, as well as an overall competition winner, who is crowned the top pet photographer of the year.

Organizers, Reeves and Turner-Bullock have 38 years of combined experience in pet photography and are the team behind Unleashed Education—which is a pet photography education platform with both online and in-person workshops.

What are you waiting for? Submit your best pet captures!
