A 26-year-old man was arrested yesterday after he sexually assaulted a young woman at Tillicum Mall in Saanich.
According to Saanich Police, at around 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 4th, the young woman was inside a store at the mall when she was approached by a man she did not know.
The man allegedly began conversing with her and asked her for a hug. He then began to sexually assault the youth.
Once the man left the store, the young woman immediately notified mall security who were able to locate the man, who was in a different part of the mall.
Police arrived shortly after, and with the assistance of security, they arrested him.
The man was determined to be 26-year-old Noel Pich. He was held in custody and has been charged with one count of sexual assault.
“The youth in this case was very courageous,” said Cst. Markus Anastasiades.
“As she notified security immediately, police were able to identify and arrest this suspect and prevent him from committing further assaults.”
