Nanaimo RCMP just announced that a death earlier this year which they had previously thought to be an accidental overdose is now being considered to be a homicide.

The Nanaimo RCMP Serious Crime Unit has taken over the investigation of the fatal overdose of 52-year-old Wendy Head who died on March 7th of this year.

Head was survived by five siblings and was known to be a loving mother of her two children and her grandchildren.

Police say that she died at a residence located in the 2300 block of Autumnwood Drive.

According to investigators, significant information has been gleaned since the initial report and has led to recent insight into her tragic death, and what might have caused it.

“Investigators are convinced that there are individuals on Vancouver Island who may have information on this homicide that can further the investigation,” said R/Cst Gary O’Brien of the Nanaimo RCMP.

Anyone who has information on the death of Wendy Head should call the investigation’s tip line at 250-755-3257.
