Several vehicles, including a BC Transit bus, were trapped in the area due to the live wires on the ground.

According to Saanich Police the driver of the vehicle was transported to hospital and the area is expected to be closed for several hours.

A BC Transit spokesperson confirmed a bus was temporarily impacted. “The Route 6 bus did not make contact with the power lines, and was able to carry on after a short delay,” confirmed the spokesperson.

Over 2,000 BC Hydro customers are without power as a result of the crash.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Southbound traffic is being rerouted down Lily Avenue causing significant traffic in the area.
