West Shore RCMP have arrested a man accused of shooting a firearm near a local bike park earlier this year.

During the arrest, police say they found a range of weapons, including 3D-printed “ghost guns,” in the suspects home.

On March 6th, West Shore RCMP issued a media release seeking public assistance to identify an individual who fired a gun in the vicinity of Langford’s Jordie Lunn Bike Park on February 20th.

Over eight months later, on November 7th, the West Shore RCMP Serious Crime Unit arrested a 41-year-old Langford suspect and executed search warrants for firearms and other evidence on his property.

During the search, investigators found and seized a significant number of restricted and prohibited firearms, including three fully loaded homemade 3D-printed ghost guns, alongside body armor, ammunition, and other evidence suggesting the suspect was 3D printing and manufacturing unregistered firearms.

“The manufacture of homemade and 3D printed firearms creates a huge risk to public safety, and something we take very seriously, and we would like to thank the public for assisting us in identifying the suspect,” said Inspector Stephen Rose, Officer in Charge of Operations at West Shore RCMP.

The suspect faces charges of reckless discharge of a firearm, pointing a firearm, possession of a prohibited weapon, contravention of storage regulations, and weapons manufacturing. Ongoing analysis of the evidence may result in further charges.

Despite lacking a criminal record, the suspect has been released on an undertaking with a court appearance scheduled for February 8th, 2024.

Police say the investigation is ongoing any more charges are expected to be brought forward.
