Paw-sitively wonderful: BC SPCA offering half-price adoptions for two weeks only

To ring in the holidays, the BC SPCA wants to see as many animals as possible find a home this season, so they can spend it surrounded by a new loving family.

To encourage the community to adopt and help make this dream a reality, they’re offering 50% off all adoption fees from December 1st through to December 15th!

This includes animals such as dogs, cats, puppies, kittens, rabbits, guinea pigs, and other small animals.

“There is no better way for us to celebrate the season than to find forever homes for all of the deserving animals in our care,” says Adrienne McBride, the BC SPCA’s senior director of Community Animal Centres.

And although McBride wants to see the SPCA’s flooded with loving families looking for a new member to take home, she wants people to fully consider the responsibilities that come with taking care of a pet too.

If people plan on adopting as a gift for another, she also asks that you make sure it’s the right choice for everyone—it’s okay to get caught up in the holiday spirit, but not at the expense of an animal.

“It is too hard on an animal to be brought into a home and then returned because someone was surprised and unprepared for the responsibility or the time commitment being a pet guardian takes.”

If it isn’t the right time to take a new furry family member into your home, that’s okay too!

McBride says there are other ways you can help, such as purchasing gift cards, sending donations, or volunteering.

“Volunteering as a foster is an amazing way to help these animals enjoy the comfort of a home for the holidays and throughout the year while they’re looking for their forever family.”

Check out their available animals here and filter the results to your local SPCA—you may just fall in love!
