Saanich Police seek help in identifying man who stole poppy donation box

Saanich Police are actively seeking information from the public to identify an individual involved in the theft of a Canadian Legion Remembrance Day Poppy Box containing donations.

The incident took place just before 6 p.m. on November 12th at the Tim Hortons located in the Royal Oak Shopping Centre.

The suspect, described as an older white man with a distinctive white beard and a slender build, was captured on surveillance footage from the restaurant.

At the time of the theft, the suspect was dressed in dark pants, black shoes, and a dark-coloured jacket accentuated with blue stripes.

Additionally, he wore a black toque with a distinct white pattern at the top.

“We are hopeful that someone can recognize the person in the photographs. This investigation remains open, and we are making efforts to identify the person who took the poppy box and donations,” stated Sgt. Damian Kowalewich.

The stolen poppy box, which contained an undisclosed amount of donations, that is meant to support veterans and their families.
