Victoria Wrapped: Spotify reveals most streamed music of BC’s capital

Share

It’s that time of year again!

Spotify is getting ready to release their massively popular and individualized ‘Spotify Wrapped’ which reveals what everyone who uses the streaming platform has been listening to the most throughout the year.

Just ahead of everyone’s individual Spotify Wrapped results, the streamer has released what some major cities have been listening to in 2023, including Victoria.

In Victoria, people have been listening to a mix of sub-genres all firmly grounded in the world of pop.

Here are the results for Victoria’s Spotify Wrapped:

Unsurprisingly, Taylor Swift topped the spotify charts with this year seeing the release of several ‘Taylor’s Version’ records, which include the most recent release of 1989, one of her most widely-popular album that helped solidify her as a pop icon and not just a country girl taking a crack at something new.

The release of Midnights and her controversially beyond-sold out ‘Eras’ tour certainly didn’t hurt her chances of taking the #1 spot.

Drake took the #2 spot on the list which is also unsurprising with the release of his new record For All The Dogs.

Morgan Wallen showed up in Victoria’s top five as well at #3 showing that people have an affinity for pop-country here on the island.

Following Wallen were both The Weeknd and Kanye West for most streamed artists of the year, both of whom have dominated the charts over the past several years.

When compared to the most streamed in Canada list Spotify released, the results were pretty much the same if Kanye West were swapped out for 21 Savage.

Globally, Taylor Swift remained triumphant at #1 with The Weeknd and Drake joining her in the top five, just like they did in Victoria and Canada.

Now that we know what artists were being streamed frequently in Victoria, let’s take a look at the most streamed songs.

Despite taking #1 on the most streamed artists list, Taylor Swift could not secure the number one spot, which went to Miley Cyrus for her breakup ballad, Flowers.

SZA’s Kill Bill took the #2 spot, with #3 going once again to Morgan Wallen and Swift taking both the #4 and #5 most streamed songs for her singles Cruel Summer and Anti Hero.

When it comes to what the most streamed song and album were in Canada, Morgan Wallen, despite his racist controversial past, took the number one spot for both categories.

As far as the most listened to genres, Spotify’s findings for Victoria were very unsurprising when compared to the most streamed artists and songs lists.
