Campbell River RCMP released a statement detailing the charges against two men, who allegedly committed serious offences earlier this year.

In August of 2023, while conducting a drug trafficking investigation, police reportedly recovered evidence that a male victim had been forcibly confined and badly assaulted with a weapon on a earlier date.

Police believed the incident was targeted.

An investigation followed, and as a result, two men were arrested on December 3rd.

These two men, Jeremy Calvert and Derrin Boyes appeared in court on December 4th and were charged with six offences.

These charges included forcible confinement, extortion, attempting to pervert, defeat or obstruct justice, assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm and uttering threats.

Trial dates have yet to be set.
