In the afternoon of Thursday, December 7th, a vehicular incident resulted in the death of one person in the Cinnabar Valley area.
The car reportedly drove over an embankment on Cinnabar Drive.
Police say the incident occurred at around 3:15 p.m. and officers were dispatched to the scene along with firefighters and paramedics once the situation was called in by a passerby.
By the time first aid could be administered to the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, they had succumbed to their wounds and were pronounced dead at the scene.
No further details of the deceased driver were released by Nanaimo RCMP.

While investigators worked around the scene, traffic was detoured for a short time by police, but has since been restored to normal.
Now, police are asking anyone who may have driven past the area to reach out if they have any dash cam footage of the area around the time of the incident.
Anyone who does have dash cam video of the incident or happened to be an eye witness should call Nanaimo RCMP at (250) 754-2345.
Police say the investigation is ongoing.
