Victim hospitalized with head wound after assault on trail in Courtenay

Comox Valley RCMP are investigating an assault that occurred in Courtenay last Friday.

At around 10:30 a.m., on December 8th, police received a call from the victim of the incident who reported that they had been attacked with a weapon on Riverside Trail, under the 17th Street bridge.

According to police, the victim and suspect were believed to have gotten into an altercation earlier that day, which led up to the events that occurred during the assault. 

The victim received a head wound in the incident which resulted in a trip to the hospital for a “serious, non life-threatening injury.”

Police said they were working over the weekend to apprehend the suspect and believe this incident to be an isolated one.
