Get ready for Thursday, Victoria!

This week is bringing the city a wildly fun and stimulating round of performances from local musicians as comedians.

If you’re a fan of poetry or just love a good party, there’s also a Burns Night celebration happening at Small Gods Brewing in honour of the late Scottish poet, Robbie Burns!

Without further delay, here’s 5 things to do in and around Victoria on Thursday, January 25th:

Lethal Comedy at Hecklers

Head over to Hecklers Bar and Grill for an evening of Lethal Comedy!

It will feature rising stars, Abbas Wahab and Jordan Policicchio, who are both two of Canada’s fastest growing stars in the comedy world.

Tickets are just under $25 and can be purchased via Eventbrite.

  • Where: Hecklers Bar and Grill, 123 Gorge Road East
  • When: Thursday, January 25th at 8 p.m. (doors open at 7:30 p.m.)

Catch the Full Moon

This month’s full moon, the Wolf Moon, will be large and bright in the sky on the evening of January 25th—why not make the most of it?

Similar to other moons, this full moon goes by many names depending on the source or an area’s history.

One thing they all have in common is its relation to the coldness of winter.

In honour of the Wolf Moon, we wanted to remind you of the wonderful viewing spots across Greater Victoria you can bring a blanket or two and enjoy it.

The list was initially made for the supermoon, but the vantage point remains the same.

  • Where: Anywhere on the list above!
  • When: Thursday, January 25th—moonrise is at 4:53 p.m. and height max will occur at around 12:30 a.m.

Burns Night at Small Gods Brewing

Head to Sidney and celebrate Burns Night in honour of Scotland’s most famous poet, Robbie Burns, who died in 1796!

It will be hosted by Victoria Cider Co’s own resident Scotsman, Wayne Ralph, and it’s said to be even bigger and better than before.

For those that are curious, Burns Night started five years after his death, when the first Burns supper was held by a group of his friends to commemorate his life (on what’s believed to be his birthday), and it’s been a tradition ever since!

The Burns Night celebration will include live Celtic music from Tyler James Johnson and a few feature menu items.

It’s first come, first serve, so if you wish to book a table, you can email hello@smallgods.ca and they’ll try to squeak you in!

  • Where: Small Gods Brewing, 9835 Third Street
  • When: Thursday, January 25th from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Thursdays Together at Quadratic Sound

This week’s Thursdays Together will be hosted by a favorite psychedelic jungle funk band, Apex Breaks!

Thursdays Together is a community-centered initiative providing an inclusive space for artists, musicians, and creatives from all walks of life to meet, collaborate, and share their talents.

This week’s theme is Rhythm and Rhyme Open Jam Night. If you’d like to perform, you can sign up at the door when you arrive.

Tickets are on a sliding scale between $5 to $15 and there is an additional one-time $5 membership fee for non-members or you can show your proof of BC Ska Society membership.
