Although winter can be long and sometimes a little scary, there are moments of pristine beauty where we can be thankful for the biting chill and the new forms of entertainment the ice brings!

Drawing in the best crowds Victoria residents have seen in decades, the Panama Flats becomes a community hotspot as the marsh froze over and provided the perfect outdoor rink surface.

Excited residents and visitors were seen playing hockey, going out for a leisurely skate, playing tag, and many more frozen fun activities—everyone soaking up the rarity of the moment.

Not only did the flats gain wide-spread attention, but wanderers in Victoria’s downtown core witnessed the freezing of time as fountains held still in icy sculptures and the Inner Harbour’s boats became glued in place.

If you were hiding in the coziness of your home and out of the cold, you may have missed the action. No worries, we’ve got you covered!
