Attention collectors of wisdom and seekers of the world’s marvels!

The Royal BC Museum has some great news for those who love to plan their visits ahead of time and wish to get a sneak peek into what’s coming.

They’ve announced the feature exhibitions for 2024, including the return of a forever favourite with Wildlife Photographer of the Year, another mysterious marvel of the ancient world with Stonehenge, and a look at a modern approach to the everyday with Canadian Modern.

“The Royal BC Museum is very pleased to share an exciting and thought-provoking lineup of exhibitions for 2024,” said Tracey Drake, Acting CEO, Royal BC Museum.

“There is so much important work happening at the museum, and while we continue to engage with the people of British Columbia about the future of their provincial museum and archives, we are also delivering dynamic and inspiring exhibitions from around the world that offer something for British Columbians and tourists to enjoy.”

Kicking off on March 1st and running until June 2nd, Wildlife Photographer of the Year will encourage visitors to take a fascinating look at animal behaviour and the breathtaking diversity of the natural world.

This exhibit uses the power of photography to raise awareness around animal advocacy and environmental conservation while showcasing some of the world’s best nature photography.

This exhibition will run alongside a companion film, Blue Whales: Return of the Giants, screening in their IMAX theatre.

From May 10th to January 5th, 2025, the museum will present Stonehenge—bringing in guests who wish to discover more about one of the most mysterious and unique stone monuments in the world and what it meant to the people that built it.

Featuring over 400 ancient artifacts along with archaeological insight and scientific research, this exhibition deep-dives into Stonehenge’s history and present significance.

Last but not least, Canadian Modern will open on June 28th and explores iconic modern designs crafted by Canadians whose work reflect and define global trends.

As described, it will highlight experimentation, innovation, and ingenuity behind 100 culturally significant objects created in Canada, including some homegrown items from the collections of BC.

From the uncovering secrets of an ancient world to the creatures and ecosystems that our world depends on, there’s something for everyone at the Royal BC Museum!
