Several flights coming in and out of YYJ cancelled due to the weather

If you were planning on flying in or out of Greater Victoria today, you may be disappointed.

Snow that rolled in overnight and will continue through Wednesday, January 17th has delayed or cancelled several flights coming in and out of the Victoria International Airport (YYJ).

The earliest flights scheduled for departure from YYJ were cancelled at 5:45 a.m. through until after 10 a.m. when the first flights were able to brave the storm and fly out.

They were delayed by over two hours but at least those headed to Vancouver and Kelowna on Pacific Coastal Airlines were able to get to their destination.

After those flights made it out, the vast majority have been cancelled with only a couple saying they would be able to board with heavy delays.

After around 3:40 p.m., most flights indicate that they should be on time, however that could change depending on how the snow storm progresses through the day.

As far as arrivals to YYJ go, not much is different, with most flights being cancelled with the exception of a few outliers who should be able to land later in the afternoon with heavy delays.

The airport currently has a weather update posted on their website which, at the time of this publication, reads:

“Crews are clearing our runways and taxiways.  Cancellations and delays are limiting most morning flights.  Passengers are advised to check the status of their fight with their airline or our website before coming to the airport.”

Check the status of all flights via YYJ’s arrivals and departures web pages.
