Snow way: Temperatures could plummet to -9°C in Victoria this week

Share

Believe it or not, at this very moment, there are no weather alerts for Victoria.

But, don’t let that fool you, as things are about to get icy soon!

While much of the snow predicted for this weekend has disappeared from Environment Canada’s forecast, the extremely cold temperatures have not.

According to the weather agency, the Greater Victoria area will experience plenty of sunshine after the heavy rainfall and wind on Monday and Tuesday, but along with that, much colder temperatures are expected.

On Thursday, daytime temperatures will reach 5°C before plummeting to -9°C overnight—snow is expected to fall over the capital as well. Friday’s high will reach -4°C before dropping back to -9°C overnight.

Saturday and Sunday will also see temperatures hanging around the freezing mark before the polar vortex moves out next Tuesday.

Either way, we’re still not out of this weather chaos yet and make sure to check the forecast before heading out—especially if you’re planning a trip further up island where snow has been falling much of the week.

Stay safe and have that snow shovel ready just in case!
