The Matador Network has officially released its travel awards for top destinations around the globe, and Vancouver Island has scored itself a slot!

There were a total of five winners under a variety of categories such as Next Big Destination Award and Sustainable Destination Award.

Vancouver Island won the Adventure Destination Award—selected by the in-house team of Matador world-travel experts!

“Vancouver Island is an all-season adventure destination for hiking, mountain biking, kayaking and so much more,” said a Matador writer.

“It’s also one of the few places in the world where you can surf and ski the same day.”

The winners of the other awards included Saudi Arabia for the Next Big Destination, Wellness Destination award was taken by Calistoga, California, and the Sustainable Destination award was given to Scotland!

Matador Network has a roster of world-traveling experts who created a points-based ranking system to issue each location their respective award—and we’d say they were spot-on with Vancouver Island.

With island hotspots including Tofino, Port Renfrew, Victoria, Sombrio, and Telegraph Cove where residents and visitors alike can go hiking, mountain biking, kayaking, and more, there’s bound to be a slice of heaven for everyone.
