The Victoria Royals unveiled their one-of-a-kind Lunar New Year jerseys, paying homage to the dynamic Chinese community across Greater Victoria.
The uniforms feature symbols and visual images tributing the Chinese culture—a celestial blend of tradition and culture—and will be worn by the Royals during the game on Saturday, February 17th, as they host the Kelowna Rockets at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre.
On Tuesday, several players ventured down to Chinatown to explore the oldest Chinese temple in Canada, the Tam Kung Temple.
Proceeds from the Lunar New Year Jersey auction and 50/50 draw will support the Temple as it continues to preserve the rich history and culture established in 1905.
The auction has already kicked off, with bidding closing at 5:30 p.m. on February 25th. You can place your bids on the jerseys here.

Additionally, the Fancy & David Foundation will be making significant donations in honor of Lunar New Year: $10,000 to Jeneece Place on Friday and another $10,000 to the Victoria Royals Foundation on Saturday.
Saturday will also feature live lion dancers, with a custom Royals lion involved in the performance.
There’s only one weekend in 2024 when hockey, dragons, and lions are all happening simultaneously, and it’s this one.
The Royals will celebrate the Lunar New Year during both games this weekend, with door prize giveaways scheduled for both Friday and Saturday games, as well as local artists present around the arena.
