Robbed and vandalized: Smash and grab robbery hits Vancouver Island jewelry store

Police are seeking the public’s help in identifying three people responsible for a smash and grab at a Vancouver Island jewelry store.

In the early hours of Wednesday, February 21st, a brazen smash and grab robbery in the quiet community of Lantzville as thieves targeted Kellers Jewellers located at 7190 Lantzville Road.

Nanaimo RCMP have launched an investigation into the incident, which left the front door of the establishment shattered and a substantial amount of jewelry stolen, amounting to several thousands of dollars.

The robbery unfolded around 3:45 a.m. triggering a glass break alarm that alerted authorities.

Upon arrival at the scene, police discovered the aftermath of the break-in, with the front door forcibly breached and multiple display cases emptied of their valuable contents.

Surveillance footage provided by the property owner revealed there were three suspects, their faces concealed and hands gloved, as they ransacked the store before fleeing the scene.

The perpetrators made their escape in an older model pickup truck, described as dark green or black, which was captured on CCTV leaving the vicinity of the jewelry store.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing the same vehicle driving erratic shortly after the robbery, as it sped through the streets of Lantzville.

The truck was last spotted turning southbound from Superior Road onto Highway 19, heading towards Nanaimo.

Nanaimo RCMP is urging anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward and assist with their ongoing investigation.
