Suspect at large after stabbing in Sidney sends one to hospital with serious injuries

A man was seriously injured after being stabbed in downtown Sidney over the weekend.

Sidney RCMP received a report of a stabbing around 11 p.m. on Saturday, February 3rd, at the intersection of Beacon Avenue and Fifth Street.

Responding officers located a man suffering from what they described as serious injuries.

According to police, the victim is known to them. BC Emergency Health Services paramedics transported him to the hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment.

“The Sidney RCMP’s General Investigation Section (GIS) has conduct of the investigation, and is currently gathering evidence and working to identify the male suspect,” states Cst. Tim Cosgrove, media relations officer for Sidney/North Saanich RCMP.

At this time police have no reason to suspect there is any risk to the general public. Police have no further information to release at this time.
