Two improv comedy shows are coming to KWENCH for International Women’s Day

International Women’s Day brings us a day of reflection and a day to celebrate all of the influential and special women in our lives.

And what better way to celebrate than an evening full of improv, absurdity, and laughter from an all-female cast of exceptional performers!

On Friday, March 8th, Garden City Improv (GCI) brings us to the stunning venue KWENCH to watch two different improv shows in support of Women in Need (WIN) and Victoria Women’s Transition House Society.

First up is the Theatresports show, followed by a late-night, no rules cabaret inspired from the cast’s hilarious stories—this is for those looking to mix a little drinking in with their improv experience!

In Theatresports, the cast will split into teams and go head-to-head in an improv comedy contest where the audience decides the winner!

“It is crucial to shine a spotlight on women and all those folks who identify as women.” KWENCH Co-producer Karolina Tokarski says.

“Highlighting women in improv fosters a sense of inclusivity, belonging and creativity. It also serves as a reminder of the valuable perspectives and voices that women of all experiences bring to the table.”

The shows will feature GCI’s Beki Zajac, Jen Yamaski, Liisa Ingimundson, Islay McKechnie and Kirsten Aasen—who are all ready to welcome you to what’s sure to be an exceptional time!

“I’m looking forward to being silly and making everyone laugh, because who doesn’t like laughing?” Ingimundson said to Victoria Buzz.

“I’m looking forward to having fun together while supporting a good cause,” added Zajac.

Tickets are $25 per show or $40 for both and the proceeds will go towards WIN and Victoria Women’s Transition House Society.

Both WIN and the Victoria Women’s Transition House Society accept donations year round, so if you can’t make the show and still want to support in some way, they’ll graciously accept what you can give!

GCI puts on weekly shows, if you love what they’re doing, you can learn more about their theatre company on their website.
