Ah, don’t you just love love?
Romance is absolutely in the air and this Valentine’s Day was extra special for a particular couple this year during a Victoria Royals game!
Crafted with bundles of excitement and a huge grand gesture, George proposed to his girlfriend, Juliett at the Royals game on Wednesday, February 14th during the aptly fitting kiss cam.
And guess what?—she said yes!
In an interview with George, he told Victoria Buzz that he knew it would be the perfect place and time.
Juliett’s love for hockey made the choice really simple for him and he knew she’d be thrilled.
Everything was orchestrated ahead of time, as George reached out to the Victoria Royals organization with his plan, to which everyone excitedly agreed they could make happen.
The Royals wanted to wait for the kiss cam, where they would give George and Juliett their sparkling moment in a literal spotlight.
The kiss cam took place in the third period, so he sat on this plan, wired on adrenaline, for a full two periods and half the third before he could pop the question!
“I just couldn’t be happier, to be honest…we’re both very happy,” George said.
“I was super confident. When you meet a girl like Juliett, you just know…from day one. I could marry her right now but we’re not quite prepared yet.”
When asked how they met, George said it was through a mutual friend, who also happens to be a popular local musician, Brett Smith-Daniels!
“I definitely owe him one for that introduction,” he beamed.
To make the moment even sweeter, the couple was presented with a gift card to Lure Restaurant & Bar, so they could celebrate this special night in style.
The Victoria Royals played against the Vancouver Giants on Wednesday’s game, and although the Royals lost 5-1, they can feel great pride in being a part of something so special.
The Royals are back in action this Friday and Saturday which will include Lunar New Year celebrations. On Saturday night, the Royals will wear unique Chinese New Year jerseys designed specifically for this game.
