5 things to do in and around Victoria this Wednesday, March 27th

Share

Cheers to mid-week, Victoria!

For this Wednesday’s highlights, we’ve included a couple of family-specific events as well as some late-night activities for anyone looking to unwind after work and laugh with pals.

Check out the classic Comedy Night at The Mint or the popular Smut Slam event at Victoria Event Centre!

For all of that and more, here’s 5 things to do in and around Victoria on Wednesday, March 27th:

Pop-Up Family Dance

Gather your kiddos and join the City of Victoria’s Artist in Residence, Kemi Craig for a pop-up family dance!

Not only is Craig a talented visual artist, but she is also a local dance artist, who grew up with dance as a part of her family life. She wants to bring that experience to the community here too!

This event is free but registration ahead of time is required. You can do so here.

  • Where: 708 Douglas Street
  • When: Wednesday, March 27th from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Choral Evensong at Christ Church Cathedral

Head downtown for a special evening of choir music at the impressive Christ Church Cathedral.

Choral Evensong takes place every Sunday and Wednesday during school term. It’s described as a meditative act of devotion and is almost entirely sung by the choir.

It’s open to people of all faiths and none, and free of charge!

  • Where: Christ Church Cathedral, 930 Burdett Avenue
  • When: Wednesday, March 27th from 5 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Magic Show at Tillicum Shopping Centre

Join the Tillicum Centre and other families for a magic show with magician, Donald Dunphy!

There will be free popcorn to enjoy during the show and they’ll also hold a contest where winners will receive a family pass to cineplex—worth $150 in value!

For extra entries into the contest, guests can scan an available QR code on site.

  • Where: Tillicum Shopping Centre, 3170 Tillicum Road—in the event space on the upper walkway of Winners
  • When: Wednesday, March 27th from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.

Smut Slam Victoria: Guilty Pleasures

There’s a lustful Smut Slam happening this Wednesday at the Victoria Event Centre (VEC), hosted by the affectionately domineering DD Brassiere.

Consenting Slammers are encouraged to sign up on the night of the event for the chance to tell a 5-minute dirty story…but there are rules.

The story must be based on real life, with loads of real lust, and real smutty details! That means no notes, no props, and no lying—strictly real life and the magic of storytelling.

Your story can be anything from downright scandalous to a funny ‘failed’ experience too. Whatever your heart desires, the audience will be there to listen wholeheartedly!

If you’re too shy to get on stage, they welcome any and all confessions or questions submitted to ‘The F-Bucket’—a convenient receptacle for all of your anonymous spicy thoughts.

Tickets are $18 in advance or $23 at the door.

  • Where: Victoria Event Centre, 1415 Broad Street
  • When: Wednesday, March 27th from 8 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. (doors open at 7 p.m.)

Comedy Night at The Mint

Dim the lights and set the stage—Morgan Cranny and Drew Farrance have picked another great lineup for this Wednesday’s comedy night!

Always new and always filling up fast, be sure to get your tickets as soon as possible.

Tickets are $15 and can be purchased here!

  • Where: The Mint, 1414 Douglas Street
  • When: Wednesday, March 27th from 8 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
