Wine connoisseurs and lovers of fine dining, if you’ve been looking for an excuse to check out The Courtney Room in downtown Victoria, this is it!

Known for their elegant decor, exclusive atmosphere and extensive food and drink menu, they now have another huge draw for locals and visitors alike.

Last week, The Courtney Room received the highest designation for its wine program at the Vancouver International Wine Festival.

They were named to the Platinum-tier of Wine Program Excellence awards—not only scoring the sole Platinum level score outside of Vancouver this year, they also became the first restaurant on Vancouver Island to achieve this high distinction.

“The recognition is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our entire team,” said Colin Davidson, Wine Director at The Courtney Room.

“We couldn’t be more proud of our wine program, which focuses on both local Vancouver Island treasures and a collection of international labels, both the classics as well as those harder-to-find wines that offer deep value for the quality.”

In order to achieve this recognition, the restaurant wine lists are evaluated by a panel of judges and graded on their originality and creativity.

These judges are highly esteemed and represent some of the most respected names in the industry, including Tom Doughty, DJ Kearney, William Mulholland, Chris Turyk and Emily Walker.

As described, The Courtney Room’s wine list was built to complement Chef Brian Tesolin’s menus—which focus on locally-sourced ingredients from the island’s farms and fields.
