Patrons and staff douse fire at historic 17 Mile House Pub in Sooke

Firefighters have extinguished a fire at the historic 17 Mile House Pub in Sooke.

The blaze ignited just after 6 p.m. Tuesday evening and was promptly contained, averting substantial damage.

A patron at the pub at the time mentioned that staff and customers promptly acted to extinguish the fire that erupted at the renowned eatery before fire crews arrived.

Images captured at the site show flames engulfing the outer upper portion of the iconic structure—believed to be the outdoor patio.

Due to the quick action of those who jumped in to douse the fire, the blaze caused no damage to the interior of the pub.

The 17 Mile House Pub in Sooke is a historic landmark. Originally established in the late 19th century, it has served as a popular gathering spot.
