On March 7th at around 8:15 p.m., Oak Bay Police received a report of a break and enter at a residence in the 3000 block of Ripon Road.

The resident told officers they’d been away for a few days and had returned to find that their home had been broken into.

They reportedly found dirt tracked throughout the home that led to the closet, and upon inspection, realized that some of their jewelry was missing.

Further investigation revealed that around $30,000 worth of jewelry was stolen from this resident’s home.

The Saanich Police Department forensic identification team attended the scene and the investigation is ongoing.

No further details have been provided at this time.

In a separate incident and only a couple of days later, police reported a total of four thefts from motor vehicles—all occurring late at night or early morning hours on March 9th and 10th.

These thefts took place from the 2000 block of Allenby Street, Townley Street, 3000 block of Redwood Avenue and 3000 block of Woodburn Avenue.

Small amounts of money and personal items were taken, and police would like to remind the public to lock vehicle doors and remove valuables that aren’t in use.

Officers will continue to patrol during peak-theft hours and are requesting the public’s help in reporting suspicious activity.
