As winter loosens its grip and spring beckons with promises of new beginnings, Starbucks has unveiled its latest lineup of seasonal offerings.
This year, the coffee giant is embracing the essence of lavender, a fragrant bloom synonymous with the arrival of spring.
Responding to the enthusiastic requests of Starbucks baristas and patrons alike, the brand introduces two captivating creations: the Iced Lavender Oatmilk Latte and the Iced Lavender Oatmilk Matcha.
“Lavender is the perfect flavour to transition us from the winter season into spring,” said Patrick Penny, Starbucks beverage developer. “Its soft sweetness, light floral notes and beautiful colour ignite feelings of rejuvenation and awakening associated with the change of seasons.”
Available starting today, these beverages showcase a proprietary lavender powder, eschewing the conventional syrup for a more authentic and aromatic experience.
The new Iced Lavender Cream Oat Matcha showcases Starbucks’ smooth and creamy matcha blended with oat beverage, poured over ice and topped with lavender cream cold foam, imparting sweet and delicate floral undertones.
“When creating the new Iced Lavender Cream Oat Matcha, we wanted to capture the uplifting energy of spring in a cup,” Penny shared. “The vibrant green matcha topped with lavender-hued cold foam delivers a delightfully colourful and unexpectedly delicious flavour combination.”
The new latte, which has a subtle purple vibe going on, rocks Starbucks Blonde Espresso, oat milk, and a touch of lavender powder. It served over ice, and infused with lavender for subtle floral accents.
“We aimed to create a really balanced, delicious beverage,” Penny said. “The oat beverage and the Blonde Espresso make a lovely pairing, providing a smooth, well-rounded profile that is complemented by the floral, and vanilla flavours of lavender.”
Building on the success of its debut last year, Starbucks has brought back the Iced Strawberry Oat Matcha Tea Latte as a permanent addition to its menu, exclusively available in Canada.
The drink combines the earthy richness of matcha green tea with the familiar sweetness of strawberry.
