In a multi-jurisdictional drug investigation, seven people were arrested following the seizure of large quantities of drugs, weapons, and cash from four homes in Duncan and Sooke in March.

The investigation was led by the North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP Street Crime Unit and began last November, targeting mid-level drug trafficking in the Cowichan Valley.

Several search warrants were executed at the four residences on March 12th and March 19th.

The operation, known as Project ENAIANT, utilized various investigative methods, resulting in the simultaneous execution of the search warrants.

The seizure included approximately three kilograms of suspected fentanyl, two kilograms of suspected methamphetamine, 1.5 kilograms of suspected cocaine, and 40 litres of GHB.

Additionally, police confiscated a carbine rifle, six handguns (including two 3D printed 9mm handguns), a 3D printer, body armour, a taser, over 400 cartons of illegal cigarettes, and $240,000 in cash.

Among those arrested was a 38-year-old man from the Fraser Valley, who is facing charges of trafficking in a controlled substance and failure to comply with a court order.

Police are also recommending drug and firearms-related charges against a 32-year-old man from the Greater Victoria area and a 38-year-old woman from the Cowichan area.

The RCMP said in an April 19 press release that these arrests and seizures represent a significant disruption to drug trafficking in the Cowichan Valley region.

The investigation is ongoing, and additional charges may be forthcoming.
