Search efforts, which began on Sunday, involve the RCMP, Central Saanich Police Department, PEMO Search and Rescue, the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre, and the Canadian Coast Guard.

As of today, Monday April 22nd, the search is ongoing. Both were believed to be traveling on their tandem kayak, between Island View Beach and D’Arcy Island on April 20th.

The current search is being concentrated further down toward San Juan Island, Lopez Island (USA), and through the Haro Straight.

In a media release, RCMP says the West Coast Marine is engaged, and are focusing search efforts more north of Coal Island into the upper Gulf Islands.

Authorities in the United States are engaged in search efforts on their country’s side. There are reports the kayak was located on Henry Island in San Juan County on Sunday.

Victoria Buzz has reached out to San Juan County Sheriff’s Office to confirm whether a search is underway in the area. We will provide an update once we receive a response.

At the time of this publication, there have been no signs of both missing men.
