A curfew check by the West Shore RCMP took a rapid turn Saturday night when the person they were checking on collapsed in front of them.
On January 7th, at around 11:20 p.m., West Shore RCMP officers were on patrol and conducting curfew compliance checks in Langford when they made a stop.
Police are often called upon to check on individuals to see if they’re complying with court ordered curfew conditions.
On this particular night, two officers met with a 36-year-old woman at her Langford home who was subject to court ordered curfew conditions.
While the officers were speaking to her, she suddenly collapsed in front of them from what appeared to be a drug overdose.
“Officers immediately recognized the woman was exhibiting signs of an overdose,” Cpl. Nancy Saggar said in a media release.
Saggar said the officers administered two doses of Naloxone and called for paramedics. The woman was taken to hospital where she received further care and has since recovered.
“There is no doubt that the officer’s quick actions in assessing the woman’s condition and administering Naloxone saved her life. We want to recognize and thank the officers for their effort,” said Inspector Stephen Rose, officer in charge of West Shore RCMP operations.
