Each Fall (November – December) the District of Saanich offers curbside leaf collection along residential streets. Each year, about 2,500 tonnes of leaves are collected and then mulched for reuse in parks, allotment gardens and garry oak restoration projects around Saanich.
Guidelines
- Leaves only.
- Leaves must be in rows or piles no more than 1 metre away from the road.
- Leaves to be clear of sidewalks, bike lanes and roadways.
- Leaves are not collected from inside ditches and to be clear of catch basins.
- Collectors require unobstructed access to leaves.
Not Accepted
Please put the following in your organics recycling cart and not out during leaf collection:
- Fir/Cedar needles
- Grass clippings
- Prunings/Branches
- Garden waste

Residents of Saanich can now pick up free leaf mulch on a first-come, first-serve basis at three Saanich parks
- Mount Douglas Park Beach Cedar Hill Road and Cordova Bay Road across from the washrooms
- Hyacinth Marigold Road and Interurban Road
- Playfair Quadra Street and Rock Street
