Police investigating suspicious package in downtown Victoria (VIDEO)

UPDATE: Officers have determined that the package was not a threat. The affected roads will be opening soon.

EARLIER: Victoria Police has just released a post stating that they are investigating reports of a suspicious package.

The 1400-block of Vancouver Street is closed to traffic at this time. Authorities have also closed off Johnson Street between Quadra and Vancouver.

According to witnesses, the package was supposedly a backpack found under a tax return dropbox at a federal government tax services building.

Expect traffic delays in the area.
