Baseball fans, get ready to be starstruck: Kelly Gruber is coming to Victoria.
The Toronto Blue Jays legend will be in attendance for the Victoria HarbourCats games as their honorary coach on Saturday and Sunday.
Gruber was a star of the heydays of the Blue Jays, and a member of the 1992 World Series Team.
“Kelly is an icon, the flowing hair, the great arm from third, his combination of speed and power helping the Blue Jays reach those World Series years,” said Brad Norris-Jones, HarbourCats GM.
“[His attendance] adds to an already busy weekend that includes our Special Olympics game on Saturday, sponsored by Peninsula Co-op, and the Claire Eccles bobblehead giveaway on Sunday with Vancouver Island Construction Association.”
Fans can come and meet Gruber, get an autograph, or take some pictures, as the HarbourCats host the Coquitlam Angels in a non-league, nationals-preview series.
Saturday’s game starts at 6:35 p.m., while Sunday will start at 1:05 p.m. Gates open an hour prior to the game time.
