High winds have prompted BC Ferries to cancel a number of sailings on major routes Sunday – this is following a number of cancellations on Saturday.
According to an Environment Canada weather statement, another low-pressure system is moving across the south coast today and will generate strong westerly winds through Juan de Fuca Strait. Communities near Juan de Fuca Strait will see winds increase to 70 km/h late this morning.
The winds will diminish late this afternoon or early evening as the low moves inland.
The following sailings have been cancelled:
Departing Tsawwassen – 11:00 am, 1:00 pm, 2:00 pm, 3:00 pm, 5:00 pm, 6:00 pm
Departing Swartz Bay – 11:00 am, 12:00 pm, 1:00 pm, 3:00 pm, 4:00 pm, 5:00 pm
Departing Tsawwassen – 10:15 am, 12:45 pm, 3:15 pm, 5:45 pm
Departing Duke Point – 10:15 am, 12:45 pm, 3:15 pm, 5:45 pm
Departing Departure Bay – 10:40 am, 1:00 pm, 3:20 pm, 5:55 pm
Departing Horseshoe – 10:40 am, 1:00 pm, 3:45 pm, 6:35 pm
Departing Horseshoe Bay – 5:30 pm
Departing Langdale – 6:40 pm
