VicPD looking to identify suspect in random unprovoked assault in downtown Victoria (VIDEO)

Police are asking for the public’s assistance as they work to identify a suspect in a random, unprovoked assault in downtown Victoria which occurred late Saturday morning.

VicPD were called to the 2900-block of Douglas Street at around 11 a.m. on June 13 after reports that a woman was assaulted by an unknown man.

Upon arrival, police learned that the unidentified man threw his body into a 29-year-old woman in an aggressive manner, while she walked down the sidewalk in the area.

Surveillance shows the woman fall to the ground following the assault.

Video of the incident can be seen below:

 

According to police, the assault was random and unprovoked.

The suspect left the area immediately after the incident, and the victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect is described as a 20 to 30-year-old Hispanic or south Asian man, 5’8″ tall, with a medium build.

Surveillance video and photos show the man has short dark hair, and wore a dark jacket, dark shorts, and a grey shirt.

VicPD is asking that anyone who sees the suspect call 911 immediately.
