ORIGINAL POST:

A combined search and rescue effort is underway at Elk Lake for a Sidney man who went missing in the area Saturday night.

Saanich Police say that 28-year-old Tim Elliott was last seen at Elk Lake around 10 p.m. on September 12.

He was reported missing on Monday by family and friends who have not seen or heard from him.

Elliott is described as white man, 28 years old, 5 feet 9 inches tall, with dirty blond hair, medium build and wearing dark clothing.

Saanich Police are working with Peninsula Emergency Measures Organization Search and Rescue (PEMO SAR) using dive teams and officers.

The search began early Monday evening but was called off due to loss of light.

PEMO SAR posted on Facebook at 9:45 a.m. on Tuesday that they had resumed searching the area and asked the public to avoid the Bear Hill Road parking lot to give teams space to work.
