More sexually explicit phone calls target female employees at Victoria businesses

Share

After reports of recurring sexually explicit phone calls surfaced at Victoria businesses over the past few months, Victoria police are now hearing of more and more cases of the same type of call.

Investigators believe that the same male individual is the perpetrator in all of the cases, and are asking people – particularly female employees at Victoria businesses – to be vigilant when receiving anonymous calls.

In addition, officers are asking victims to record these calls if and when possible.

Here’s what to do if you get a phone call that matches this description:

  • Write down the time, date and phone number of the call
  • Make notes of exactly what was said by the caller (specific words or phrases used) and anything identifying or unique about the voice, tone etc.
  • Record the calls when safe and possible to do so
  • Report the call to Victoria police’s non-emergency line at 250-995-7654.

The calls are currently occurring throughout the province, and Victoria police is now working with the RCMP to locate the perpetrator.

If you know who is making these calls, contact VicPD at 250-995-7654 or report what you know anonymously, please call Greater Victoria Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
