Victoria’s newest farmer’s market will be at Camosun College next week

As our beloved city grows, the sense of community grows along with it, and nowhere is that more evident than with the success of Victoria’s various farmer’s markets.

Spread out all over the south island, you can now add a new market to the list with the first ever, Camosun Farmers’ Market, happening at their Lansdowne campus on October 3rd from 2:30 to 6 p.m.

It’s an exciting move for Camosun College particularly due to the diversity of its campus, as people from all around the world will now get to experience firsthand some of the very best goods and produce Island farmers have to offer.

It’s also a great opportunity “to learn about sustainable food and practices”, says Maria Bremner, Camosun’s Sustainability manager, reiterating the fact that these farmers markets are about much more than just great local food.

They also encourage local business, while also being an opportunity to educate, along with building and maintaining a healthy community.

These kinds of events enable relationships that aren’t necessarily found elsewhere, and Bremner states, “it’s also just a great opportunity to bring people together and enjoy some tasty, healthy food.”

If you want fresh, local produce, and to maybe learn a few things and meet a few new people, make sure you stop by the Camosun Farmers’ Market!
