When they returned from their hike at around 3:30 p.m., they realized that their $15,000 e-bike had been stolen from the rack, after the thief cut the lock securing and left it lying on the ground.

“We reached out to the couple for more details on the make and model and serial number for the bike but we have not received a call back,” said Cst. Gary O’Brien.

“They are most likely continuing their travels but sadly, without their very expensive bike.”

Anyone with information on the location of the bike or the person/people responsible for stealing it is asked to contact Nanaimo RCMP at 250-754-2345. If you wish to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at www.nanaimocrimestoppers.com or call 1-800-222-8477.
