BC Ferries adds extra sailings for the Easter long weekend

BC Ferries is getting ready for a busy Easter long weekend with the addition of 58 sailings beginning on Thursday, March 24.

The most popular travel times are expected to be midday Thursday to late morning Friday, with traffic moving from Metro Vancouver to Vancouver Island and the Sunshine Coast.

The holiday Monday afternoon is expected to be busy with traffic returning to Metro Vancouver.

The corporation says it reviewed traffic patterns from past years and planned the additional sailings accordingly, but encourages travellers with a specific sailing in mind, to consider making a reservation in order to ensure their travel plans.

Extra sailings are scheduled for the TsawwassenSwartz Bay, Horseshoe BayDeparture Bay and Horseshoe Bay Langdale routes to accommodate additional traffic over the Easter long weekend.

The extra sailings are as follows:

  • 42 extra sailings are scheduled on the Tsawwassen – Swartz Bay route
  • 10 extra sailings are scheduled on the Horseshoe Bay – Departure Bay route
  • 6 extra sailings are scheduled on the Horseshoe Bay – Langdale route

The schedule for the Earls CoveSaltery Bay route has been adjusted to align with the additional sailings on the Horseshoe Bay – Langdale route and can be viewed at BC Ferries website.
