Have you ever heard of Giving Tuesday?
It’s a global movement (over 150 countries participate) that encourages giving and volunteering after the consumerism of Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
And on this year’s Giving Tuesday, Peninsula Co-op is matching all donations made to the BC Cancer Foundation, up to $25,000.
According to the Foundation, one-in-two people are expected to face cancer in their lifetime, so now is the time to advance research and bring new solutions to patients who need them most.
As the official Canadian Giving Tuesday website says, “we have two days that are good for the economy. Now we have a day that is good for the community too.”
Peninsula Co-op was started by a small group of Saanich Peninsula residents in
1977, and has grown to 18 gas stations across Vancouver Island with more
than 100,000 local member-owners.
Last year alone, Peninsula Co-op donated over $500,000 to 300 community initiatives as part of their commitment to returning profits back to their local communities.
